| Attention Skeewiff fans… We are please to announce that we have just finished putting the final touches to our new album ‘PRIVATE FUNKTION’ which is scheduled for release early in the New Year. |
| In the mean time we have a new EP called ‘Retropolitan’ which has just started being promoted and is due for release on December 12th. |
| The Retropolitan EP sums up what the new Skeewiff material is all about, a mixture of cosmopolitan and retro grooves. “Triumph Stag” is a track we wrote with Alan Hawkshaw a real keyboard legend who wrote tracks like Champ with The Mohawks. It’s got a real retro funky Hammond sound but sounds great when we play it out. “Ruby’s Revenge” is an Indian influenced sitar-funk breaks track. “Little spot of soul” is old school Skeewiff lounge-breaks and “The Adventures of Cutman” is just a little weird and kinda funny. |

18.05.05 Right some Skeewiff news for those of you who’ve been looking out for it. We’ve been holed up in our new studio lovingly scouring the internet for vintage microphones, re-tuning an ancient piano (and getting it up our stairs) and generally doing everything possible to get our new studio up and running. We’ve been tweaking analogue desks, restoring old keyboards and of course writing new material which we are now getting ready to release. |
Apologies for the lack of news on the site – both of us have been pretty tied up Elliot with being a new dad and me with bringing vintage microphones back to life. That’s no excuse though so to all our fans thanks for being patient. |
Next up from us will be an album we are putting together in collaboration with USA’s finest - Fort Knox Recordings from Washington DC.
www.fortknoxrecordings.com The album features an exclusive Skeewiff remix of the FK5 smash Brazilian Hipster, two new Skeewiff tracks and a host of Fort Knox gems including them returning the favour and doing an exclusive FK5 mix of Skeewiff track Living For me. Also included is a great mix of Man of Constant Sorrow by label-mates Kraak & Smaak. These guys are really doing it right now – you should check out their site www.kraaksmaak.com |
Man of Constant Sorrow will be released by Jalapeno on the 4th July. Originally this was hidden away on an EP due to a sample which gave the EP it’s name (One Sample Short of a Lawsuit EP) The legalities have now been dealt with and it’s getting a proper release with a full on club mix from D Ramirez and a downbeat chilled version from K&S check it out. |
In the autumn we’ll be gearing up for the next album release. We’ve got loads of tracks ready so it’s a matter of sifting through them and pulling the right mixes for the album. It’s a hard life sweating over a hot mixing desk. |

You can check out some pics of the new setup : |

01.11.2004 Firstly sorry every one for long delay in putting news up on the site. We are in the middle of writing a new album and every thing else has been on hold including DJ'ing and live stuff. We've also had a nightmare with the server that used to carry all the mp3's and videos that we had on download. They said we were killing their bandwith and kicked us off. We're looking for some new space at the moment ... so hang on. Onto some real news, we have some sweet colloabotaions for the new album that we must keep under wraps at the moment but suffice to say we have a vinyl EP planned for early next year for ya'll. Also for digital audio lovers, our tracks will br available to download with www.tunes.co.uk as soon as their kick ass mp3 site is up and running. |
| |
Finally check our label www.jalapenorecords.com for all the news on other artists signed to us and a full view of our back catalogue. We have repressed our old records for the vinyl lovers and they'll be available from www. tunes.co.uk soon. Also One to check is an album we will be releasing as a joint label album with state side Fort Knox 5. |
